Message Have already checked alternator voltage and pulley alignment.

Voltage was about 14V with the car running...idler pulley was
spinning freely. I'm completely at a loss...for some reason the
belt is jumping out of the grooves.

I read something about the fan clutch being an issue. Does
anyone have experience with this? I'm going to tighten the
belt tomorrow (3 different mechanics have installed belts by
now, I'm sure it isn't workmanship) and put some belt dressing
on to prevent glazing.

This thing is a mess, and I'd hate to go back to stock pulleys.
There's almost nothing worse than driving a Z you love and
having a belt squeal that hurts the ears of everyone within a
hundred feet.
